Various Volunteer Projects

 

Nukanti Foundation for Children is always looking for volunteers with a wide range of qualities, passions, and expertise.  Our rolling short term and long term volunteer opportunities in Colombia would offer the opportunity to work with a variety of projects depending on your interest and expertise. 


VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

Art & Photography
There are short and long-term opportunities to assist with photography workshops and  Art Therapy. Our aspiration is to provide a tool of expression and healing for traumatized children, assure their attendance as well as their performance at school, build leadership skills by boosting their self-esteem and providing them hope, improve their quality of life and help create an environment fostering positive alternatives to the conflict.

Music & Dance
We currently have Capoeira for the children. Capoeira is a Brazilian Art Form, which combines elements of dance, play and ritualistic fighting. It evolved from the struggle of African slaves against their oppressors and its history is deep with Warrior rituals from Central Africa. It is a celebration of life in the face of everyday struggle. It develops confidence, combined with a strong feeling of centre and balance. Always central to the message of capoeira is unity, and bringing people together to keep continual flow regardless of the game and to find peace, joy and fulfillment in the game and in life. We are always looking for individuals to participate in this program or musicians and artists to bring with them new ideas in the forms of musical and dance expression.

Medical Professionals
Medical care for children in many of the regions we work in are often times poor. We will happily speak with medical professionals working in any field  in regards to partnering with Nukanti in assisting the children we work with.

Crafts
Groups are involved in the making of handmade items throughout the region. Baskets, necklaces, bangles, clothing, artwork, etc. If you have a special skill in sewing or any other handmade craft technique, assisting in training or teaching a class could be a possibility.

Sports Coaches and Teachers
We often have a need for tachers and sports enthusiast to assist with various programs we run for the children in the coffee region of Colombia.  Our Corporation Center for Young People is a prime example of successful programs throughout the region.

Community Fundraising

As a non-profit organization, we always need funds. Fundraising is crucial to the running of our programs. If you are an individual with experience in fundraising and or grant writing there is a posisbility of volunteering with our administrative team.

Project Management/Social Work/Administration
We are always looking for talented motivated individuals who have experience and a passion helping to manage projects and ideas.
